Earth elementals resemble crude, headless humanoid statues, with clublike hands and feet. They cannot cross a body of water wider than their own height. Earth elementals take double damage when attacked by fire (including fire elementals). They do an additional 1d8 points of damage against creatures, vehicles, or structures which rest on the ground.
Special Abilities
Vulnerability to Fire: Take double damage when attacked by fire (including fire elementals).
Grounded Targets: Do an additional 1d8 points of damage against creatures, vehicles, or structures which rest on the ground.
Water Limitation: Cannot cross a body of water wider than their own height.
Earth Elementals are creatures from the Elemental Plane of Earth, though they may sometimes be found elsewhere. When encountered on the Prime Material Plane, usually as a result of summoning magic, they seem to be vaguely humanoid mounds of stone, earth, metal and crystal. Whilst they may have a discernible head and face, it is usually devoid of expression and they will not speak, their language being the rumblings of the earth.
What Earth Elementals lack in speed, they make up for in relentless determination and dedication. They pass through rock and earth without hindrance, as they do along the ground, but they cannot travel through the air nor in or over water unless they remain in contact with the earth.
Special Abilities
Ground-Based Combat: Earth Elementals prefer to fight enemies on the ground and will almost always seek a way to do so, as when they strike opponents who are also in contact with the earth their great limbs strike for 4d8 points of damage; against foes who are not in contact with ground, the Earth Elemental strikes for only 4d6 points of damage.
Destruction of Structures: The power of Earth Elementals against ground built structures and fortifications is truly devastating; they are capable of reducing small structures to rubble in a matter of minutes and even the largest will eventually collapse if the Elemental is free to work against it.
