The giant axolotl is a paedomorphic salamander, one that matures without undergoing metamorphosis into the terrestrial adult form; adults remain fully aquatic with obvious external gills, also known as the giant walking fish, they are large, 10 foot or longer amphibians much like regular axolotls only larger.
Usually found in or near shallow rivers, ponds, or lakes, their amphibian nature allows them to roam the banks of their watery homes in search of food. While their skin is soft, it is also surprisingly thick, and due to its magical nature giant axolotl can only be harmed by magical weapons. Giant axolotl have the ability to regenerate, though it takes them months to regrow lost body parts.
